Meet Our Team


Dawn Hicks – RDH, Office Administrator

Dawn is our office administrator and is involved in many levels of patient care. She is most likely the first face you will see when arriving at the office. Her disposition and welcoming friendly personality helps to put patients at ease. Dawn graduated hygiene school in 1995 and was Dr. Knollman’s first hygienist when he went into private practice for several years. She rejoined the practice as the office administrator in 2004. Her favorite things include, traveling and trying new restaurants and making memories with her family!

Audrea Burgin- CDA, Office Adminstrator

Audrea graduated from Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College Dental Assisting Program in 1999. Her career started in orthodontics for almost 20 years, she joined Dr. Knollman’s practice in July 2019. Her role at the office includes scheduling and marketing along with other duties. She is a people person and loves the interaction with patients and their families. She and her husband Robby have a son Dakota. During her free time, she enjoys traveling, shopping, cooking, snow skiing, water skiing and hiking.

Brandy

Brandy Pittman – Certified Dental Assistant

Brandy chose dental assisting as her career and attended Western Piedmont Community College. In 1998, she graduated as a Certified Dental Assistant. She has been employed with Dr. Knollman since January 2001. Brandy is married to Brad and they have 3 children Kennedy, Alex and Anna. She enjoys shopping, going to the movies and traveling.

Haley McElrath – Dental Assistant

Haley joined the practice in April of 2019, she has been a dental assistant since 2008. Being an assistant allows her to get to know the patients. Her goal is to make sure the patient feels comfortable and at ease for every appointment. Haley is married to Jeremy, has a daughter Michaela and a son Landon. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her dog Bentley. In her free time, she enjoys spending her weekends at Lake James and water skiing.

Jae

Jae Hewitt – Registered Dental Hygienist

Jae graduated from hygiene school in 2004. Before she became a hygienist, she was a paramedic. She has always enjoyed helping people and building lasting relationships with her patients. She joined the practice when her family moved from Georgia to Asheville in June 2015. Her husband is a science teacher for Georgia Virtual School and works out of their home. They have one daughter, Adelaide, who was born in September of 2012 and is the love of their lives. Prior to becoming parents, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to experience Africa, Australia, China and Italy. As a family they enjoy camping, walking their two dogs and exploring all the wonderful things Asheville has to offer.

Gay Teal – Registered Dental Hygienist, BS, MA

Gay arrived from California to Asheville in 2011. She has been a hygienist for almost four decades and a dental hygiene educator for over 25 years as well as a full-time Professor. She prides herself on specialized individual care to her patients and LOVES the Blue Ridge Mountains and four seasons. Gay is an avid outdoor person and loves to cook, read and exercise in her spare time. She is married with three grown children and several amazing grand-babies. Her family is spread across the country, she loves traveling to see them and making memories with them! Gay hopes to spend more time working with outreach community care in the future.

Anna Boyer- Registered Dental Hygienist

Anna is an Asheville native born and raised. She began her career is dentistry in 2006 as a dental assistant. She then went on to the hygiene program at Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College in which she graduated with honors in May of 2018. Her hobbies include hiking, photography and she loves cupcakes!

Chris Knollman

Chris is a current first-year dental student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and a recent 2019 graduate of UNC Asheville where he earned a bachelor’s of science in biology. He started working at our office just after graduating high school and is working towards a profession in general dentistry with interests in periodontics, restorations, and TMJD treatment. In his free time, Chris enjoys playing guitar and cooking.
